We show you the data as CMS publishes it, including when the honest answer is keeping the plan you already have.

Paid only if you enroll

Carriers compensate us only when you choose to enroll through us. Your premium is identical either way.

Your data stays yours

Our take

Why we show you plans we don't sell

Our rankings score every plan in your ZIP for your doctors, drugs, and budget, including plans that pay us nothing and plans we can't sell at all. If one of those fits you best, that's the one you'll see ranked first.

What we tell people whose plan is already right

Keep it, and we'll say so. Many people who run a comparison learn their current plan holds up. Confirmation is a fine outcome; you leave knowing where you stand.

Common questions

Straight answers, no fine print.
Is The Pocket Protector really free?

Yes. Carriers pay us a commission. You pay the same premium whether you enroll through us, another broker, or directly with the carrier. There's no fee, no markup, no catch.

How is this different from Medicare.gov?

Medicare.gov shows you plans. We compare them based on your drugs, doctors, and budget, then explain the tradeoffs a plan finder can't. We're licensed brokers, not a government website.

Do you recommend plans based on what pays you the most?

No. Commission is never a factor in our recommendations. Our tools score plans on your drugs, doctors, costs, and star ratings, nothing else. We publish this commitment in the Pocket Protector Promise.

Read the Pocket Protector Promise
Can I keep my doctors if I switch plans?

Our tools check your doctors against every plan's provider network before recommending anything. If keeping a specific doctor matters to you, we'll only show plans where they're in network.

What if I'm still working and have employer insurance?

We built a tool specifically for this. It compares your employer plan costs side by side with Medicare options so you can see the actual numbers, not guesswork.

When can I change my Medicare plan?

Most people can switch during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15 to December 7. But there are other windows depending on your situation. If you're turning 65, leaving employer coverage, or have Medicaid, you may have options right now.
